Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Don’t Look Down on My Guys
In the latest episode of Solo Leveling, Season 2 Episode 6, called “Don’t Look Down on My Guys,” we see an exciting battle between Sung Jinwoo and Kargalgan, the powerful leader of the High Orcs. This episode is one of the best in the series so far, featuring thrilling action and character growth, but it does miss some important details from the original manhwa.
The episode shows what happens after Son Kihoon’s raid party gets stuck in the High Orcs' lair, where they have to fight against Kargalgan and his many High Orc soldiers. The tension that has been building over the last two episodes really pays off in this exciting episode, making it an important moment in the season.
Cha Haein’s Role and the Significance of Weapons
Cha Haein plays an important role in this episode, giving a different viewpoint during the battle. One memorable scene shows her going to the A Rank Gate to find Jinwoo. Without a weapon, she hesitantly takes a pickax from the Collection Team’s Chief. This moment is important because it emphasizes the theme of weapons in the episode. Even though Haein is an S Rank Hunter, her choice to use a pickax shows how silly it is to go into a dangerous situation without a proper weapon—unless you’re Jinwoo, who can defeat enemies with just his bare hands.
The episode skillfully includes the idea of "weapons" throughout, highlighting that real strength comes from the person using the tools, not just the tools themselves. This deeper theme adds more meaning to the story, turning what could have been a simple joke into an important part of the plot.
Character Moments Amidst the Action
The episode is mostly about Jinwoo’s power but it also showed the weaknesses of other characters especially Son Kihoon. His brave but failed attempt to go against Kargalgan alone is a memorable scene and made even more sad with his teammates sad faces. Kihoon’s sacrifice has a strong impact, highlighting the seriousness of their battle.

Another important character interaction happens with Woo Jinchul and the Collection Team outside the Gate. The humor in this scene, especially from a bully character, offers a nice break from the intense action, even though not every funny moment feels needed.
Pacing Issues with Added Scenes
But not everything added to the episode is good. The scene where Choi Jongin found out about the A Rank Gate and Kihoon’s team feels unnecessary. It highlights the danger but slows down the pacing and could have been explained more through the dialogue that was already there.
The Shadow Soldiers Shine
One of the best parts of the episode is the greater focus on Jinwoo’s Shadow Soldiers. Characters like Igris, Iron, and Tank provide some of the most thrilling moments, showing off their special abilities and personalities. The anime does a great job of keeping the spirit of these characters, even though some funny moments from the manhwa are left out. The action scenes are really well done, with more blood and gore than in the original material, clearly showing how brutal Jinwoo’s army is.
Kargalgan: A More Fearsome Villain
Kargalan is shown in a way that makes him a deeper and more menacing character than in the manhwa. Kenta Miyake’s voice acting really conveys Kargalan’s pride and arrogance and extra scenes show his desperation as the battle goes on. The climax of Kargalan’s fight is especially good, showing his fear as he’s getting overpowered by Jinwoo’s forces.

A key line from the manhwa is missing in the anime. Kargalan’s realization that Jinwoo is the “Monarch” is an important moment that adds to the overall mystery of the series. Instead the anime uses a less clear line which might weaken the effect of this hint. This makes wonder how they will deal with future reveals and if they will have the same impact as they should.
A Perfect Mid-Season Highlight
Overall Episode 6 “Don’t Look Down on My Guys” is a great episode of Solo Leveling. The fight against Kargalgan is one of the best in the series so far and sets the stage for even bigger battles to come. While Jinwoo getting stronger and his Shadow Army is growing and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
As the season continues, excitement grows for the next episode, called “The 10th S Rank Hunter,” which suggests more developments in Jinwoo’s story. This episode mixes action, character moments, and deeper themes, showing how well the series can engage its audience while adapting from the manhwa.
