In Solo Leveling the story relates to Hunters and the theme of family. The main character Sung Jin-Woo is the weakest Hunter but becomes one of the strongest. His journey is not just about getting stronger it’s also about protecting and taking care of his family especially his younger sister Sung Jin-Ah. As the story goes on you’ll wonder if Jin-Ah will get any Hunter abilities like her brother. But she never becomes a Hunter in the series. Instead her character shows the difference between the lives of Hunters and normal people.

Sung Jin-Ah: The Ordinary High School Student

Sung Jin-Ah is portrayed as a smart, kind and hardworking high school student. She loves her brother Jin-Woo and studies hard. Even though she knows about the dangerous world of Hunters she chooses to live her normal life and not become a Hunter. This is important because she wants to live a peaceful life away from the chaos and violence that Hunters go through every day.

Throughout the series Jin-Ah is portrayed as the sibling who genuinely cares for Jin-Woo. She worries about him especially as he gets into trouble. She’s the emotional anchor for Jin-Woo reminding him of the life he’s fighting for. But she doesn’t have any supernatural powers so she’s not part of the Hunter world.

Sung Jin-Woo’s protective instincts are a major theme in the story. As he gets stronger and faces tougher enemies his number 1 priority is always his sister’s safety. He goes to great lengths to protect her from the dangers of being a Hunter. This is evident in many parts of the story where Jin-Woo takes calculated risks to make sure Jin-Ah is safe and unaffected by the Hunter world.

One of the biggest moments is when Jin-Ah becomes a target for his enemies. They use her as leverage against him and it shows the risks of being related to a Hunter. If she had, she would most likely have been a healer or a support Hunter, which are super valuable in the Hunter community especially since there are so few good healers in South Korea after the death and retirement of key figures.

As a healer, Jin-Ah could have played a crucial role in battles, and saved her brother and other Hunters from getting injured. She would have been super useful on the battlefield, keeping her allies strong and morale high. She could have been an S-rank Hunter, which would have made her one of the main figures in raids and battles against powerful enemies.
